A lifetime of sports including cross-country running, badminton and soccer at university level for Trinity College and inter-county soccer for Louth has taken its toll on David Hughes' body . As he entered his thirties, pain forced him to retire. Over the next few years, he worked in Canada and the U.S. in the medicinal cannabis industry as a marketing manager, where he saw first-hand the benefits CBD can bring. He met people using CBD to treat their illnesses and spoke with professional athletes using CBD to help them recover.

Before working in the industry, he was slightly hesitant about CBD, but soon realized how it could benefit people. While it was too late for CBD to save his sporting career, he knew it could help other athletes prolong their careers, so he created Canndid , a high-quality CBD brand .

David founded Canndid to create a range of products specifically designed for those with an active lifestyle and an interest in health and well-being. He knew that soft gels, gummies and sachets would be perfect for athletes' routines. Realizing that the benefits of CBD are not exclusive to athletes, he believes that people who lead busy lives, study for exams or work around the clock can stay calm, combat anxiety and relax at the end of the day with CBD.

"I found the first confinement particularly difficult, I worked from home, which I wasn't used to and I struggled to find the right work/life balance. We were very busy during the pandemic and I decided to take CBD more regularly. It helped me focus and relax. It's been a great help to me personally.

During his time in Canada and the USA, David noticed that education was the main driver for changing mindsets and creating greater acceptance of CBD. He was also impressed by the brands that took a professional approach to the industry, so he knew that educating people about CBD would help drive the industry forward here in the UK.
