Gatichanvre

The company was founded in 2013 by 6 farmers. Since July 2021, the Plantes et Fruits Group, headed by Jean-Raymond Vanier, has taken over the Gatichanvre company. The Essonne-based company borders La Seine et Marne, as well as the Centre - Val de Loire region via the departments of Loiret (45) and Eure et Loir (28). This production basin enables the company to work with a hundred or so partner farmers to produce around 1,000 ha of hemp, including 50% of organic hemp. The company carries out the first transformation of hemp: defibration of the straw. The resulting fiber is used to make paper, insulation, roads and bio-composites. Straw's other constituent, chenvotte, is used for mulch and bedding, as well as in the construction industry for hemp plaster, concrete and blocks. Our seed production (hempseed) is mainly destined for the food and cosmetics markets. In fact, hempseed is very rich in proteins, vitamins (including E), omegas 3 and 6, calcium... and is increasingly sought after to meet the nutritional needs of the human body.
